I live in very nice middle-class community. Rent is definitely not cheep and I work very hard every month to make ends meet!
So, I live in a bigger city. Has the world just totally gone mad? Three weeks ago I had a Mexican gang war that broke out in my neighborhood. The fight was so bad that residential houses had blood stains strewn across the sides of the buildings. The gang’s that were fighting each other use swords, frying pans, baseball bats, and just about anything they could get their hands on! It was scary. It left you with an uncomfortable feeling that you did not even feel safe in your neighborhood. Apparently there were seven victims that were critical condition and one person almost dies due to the fact he was stabbed several times.
I’m just now getting to the importance of this…
Over the summer in my complex we have had a lot of troubles. It is a family community and what I just mentioned (above) is now the least of my worries! I have a lot of kids that play in our side streets and I fear for their safety. All summer long we have had people that live in the neighbor hood race their motorcycles down the side streets and very high speeds. I think and educated guess would be at approximately 100 MPH. One day I saw one of these assholes almost wipe out a couple of children that dove out of the way just in time before they were almost run over.
So last night at about midnight after the OSU game one of these drunkards decided he was going to rev up and speed through the neighborhood. As just only 10 minutes prior to this kids were packing up in a car that was obviously leaving a neighbors house after the game. I had enough at this point and ran out as the guy was racing down the street and yelled at him “Knock it off before you kill somebody”! Anyway he stopped his bike and came bum rushing up to me. Yelling at the top of his lungs “You want a piece of me”? “I will **** you up”! ‘How dare you tell me what to do you old ****”? At this point I did not cower down. I stood up for the neighborhood and the families that live here. So I said in a firm demeanor “Knock off all this racing before you accidentally run over a kid”. He kept being aggressive and shouting obscenities at me and out of the corner of my eye I see another guy walking up to us where this was taking place. This guy rushed up on me and clocked me right on the jaw. At this point some of the other neighbors came rushing out of there homes and about 4-5 of them had already called 911 due to the fact as they are racing down the streets it makes a terribly loud noise! I had never been so scared in my life. I thought these ******* were cracked up and were going to “F” me up if you know what I mean? These were some big dudes and I’m all of about 178 lbs.
But, I am proud of myself and so were my neighbors. I set an example on standing up for my self and most importantly what is right! Does my jaw still hurt today? Yes! Did I throw a punch back? No! Did I call the Cops? Yes! Was there response time slow? Yes! Did the guys get away with it? Yes! But, I know they were shitting there pants when the entire neighbor hood came out in my defense and chased them down!
I guess my question is why don’t people concentrate more on fighting for love as appose to fighting for supremacy?
