1. Databases - must have good skill in Databases. SQL and a programming language like PL/SQL, T-SQL is a must.
2. Langauge: Good knowledge in any OOP Language like C++, Java. Exposure to GUI Development, Server programming etc are definitely a plus.
3. Communication Skills: Good communication skills are must.

Most IT firms are focuses on the acquisition of IT skills and knowledge However, if you want to build a career in IT ,there are more issues at play than technical skills and knowledge alone. you
also need softskills(presentation, communication, marketing,project management etc.) to enhance your value . Your tech skills and training decisions are important ,but if you can't market your skills
getting ahead will be an up hill task.

good communication skills, better know hardware and troubleshooting from the inside out, and if you are interested in programming and web designing, then you better master a at least 2 languages...i recommend Java, and any other...:)
