It's a history assignment for tomorrow. I need a quote that reflects prejudice or that shows only one point of view and that uses an opinion as a fact.

Forgive me. I'm confused here. Are you supposed to write something that reflects bias, or are you quoting someone else who reflected bias?

"A society that has done something special against the ***** for hundreds of years must now do something special for him, to equip him to compete on a just and equal basis." Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Not that I disagree, but it is clearly biased in favor of African-Americans.

Let's give this a try. First, where do we look for a quote that shows bias through prejudice, one-sidedness, or by citing opinion as fact? Let's try politics.

Second, how do we find the political quotes we hope to find? Since it's an election year, let's look for them in the news.

Third, we go to Yahoo News, since this is Yahoo property, and we select the Politics category.

Fourth, we scan for stories that might contain a biased quote. And we see the headline, "Reaction mixed to Schwarzenegger remarks." Sounds promising.

Fifth, we read the article and find this in a discussion about whether a particular woman is Cuban or Puerto Rican:

-------------------
"They are all very hot," the governor says on the recording. "They have the, you know, part of the black blood in them and part of the Latino blood in them that together makes it."

It's not entirely clear whether the Governator means hot-tempered or good-looking, but since neither trait is restricted to a certain "blood," much less a certain mixture of "blood," we can safely assign this statement to the biased category.

Apologies for the long reply, but I wanted to show you the process as well as the answer, in the hopes that it will help you with your future research.

btw, I'm confused in the same way Smcin is, but if you have to actually create a quote of your own, you've certainly got enough material to work with from all these answers so far. Next time, don't wait so late to do your homework. ;)

"I've never seen a sincere white man, not when it comes to helping black people. Usually things like this are done by white people to benefit themselves. The white man's primary interest is not to elevate the thinking of black people, or to waken black people, or white people either. The white man is interested in the black man only to the extent that the black man is of use to him. The white man's interest is to make money, to exploit." - Malcolm X

"During the slave period, the slave owner would breed his big black with his big woman so that he would have a big black kid—that's where it all started."

Attributed to Jimmy the Greek, commenting on why blacks make such good athletes - January 1981. He was fired from CBS Sports immediately afterward.
