im not sure exactly what your talking about, but the equator splits Earth into Northern and Southern hemispheres, and the Prime Meridian separates into Eastern and Western Hemispheres

The equitorial plane.
You may be thinking of the ecliptic or ecliptic plane... the celestial sphere's equivilant of an equator traced by the sun's path through the sky... but since the Earth is tilted this isn't equally between OUR north and south poles (it's off by about 23 degrees)

Once again, Braxton has it right. It is the Celestial Equator and marks the 0 degrees of declination. The best way to spot the celestial equator is to use the star Mintaka as a guide. It is almost on the line.
