By law, as long as one person knows that a conversation is being recorded (which is you) it's legal & will stand up in court. In your case, the Dean's office.
To smcin728 snooty little remark, I'm going by Arkansas laws which IS IN FACT legal. Might not be in your neck of the woods, but it is in mine!!!!!!!!!!! And the next time you want to make a bi**hy remark remember, not everyone lives in the same state as you!

I am sure this information is located with in your College bylaws and rules, this rules will vary at each college.
Legally recording someone with out there consent varies state by state. I know it is illegal in California. None the less I doubt your professor will be happy about it so I hope the misinformation is worth causing a big fight about.

You have a right to have any information that will be used to grade or affect your education.
Since it is a public school, and you no doubt have cameras in the schools, then a audio recording would be allowed, and prudent.
Good luck, but remember, if you tick off the professor, the professor ticks of your GPA.

you are allowed to tape record without her knowlege bc you are using for class there is nothing wrong with that. Some proffesor urge students to this. She wants you to know what she is saying so she already gave you permission to tape record her even though she did not out right speak it.
then i would confront her about the situation after the recording is done but wait till everyone is gone. Be polite about it.
well good luck.

truthfully, despite if the professor facilitates you to do it, this is not that super of an thought. assume this is an hour long type, and you checklist all of it. then you bypass lower back on your dorm to income with the help of listening to the full lesson. A: That takes an entire hour to do, and despite in case you in user-friendly terms ought to income 5 minutes of the lesson, you have have been given distinctive speedy-forwarding and rewinding to stumble on that place interior the lecture. B: in case you probably did no longer realize it that nicely at college, you're no longer likely to realize it that nicely a 2nd time in a distinctive putting. the appropriate thank you to income is to jot down or variety your own notes. Your writing it down as quickly as ingrains it on your head plenty extra effective than you listening to it two times. in case you're no longer very good at making your own notes, attempt besides. After some cases of doing it (ok, maybe distinctive cases of doing it), you're extra waiting to %. out the significant stuff. 2 extra advice. One, mark the spot the place the professor says "each thing as much as right here would be on the try." you do no longer opt to income the failings for final try or the subsequent one! 2, a 60 is passing in college, so which you have have been given slightly extra wiggle room. wish this helps!

Be sure to check the laws of the State and/or Country you are living in. Some States have very strict laws against recording others without them being notified.
Be sure to check the College or University policies.

It depends on the educational institution - i know there were regulations governing it at my uni as lectures are considered copyrighted material of the of the university and you must have permission to tape record it. In Australia it is also against the law to tape record anyone without their express permission.
