It goes back way longer than current racial tensions so no.
Chess pieces have been used for over a thousand years and current racial black white division did not exist the same then.

They aren't always black and white. The just have to be two different colors. Black and white were adopted as the standard to make things easy.
Actually, white does have an advantage in Chess, because the player with the lighter pieces moves first. This is known as the "first move advantage". At the grandmaster level, the player with the white pieces wins much more often than the player with the black pieces, which is why matches are always an even number of games - so both players have to play both colors the same number of times.

Its very racist, especially because white always moves first. You should contact the NAACP and begin a lawsuit against all white chess pieces in the world.

Here's what you do.
Take all the pieces from your chess set and paint them all the same color.
Now play a game
I call this the Socratic method of leading you to answer your own question.
You have to actually do it to find out the answer, 'cause anyone who would ask such a question isn't smart enough to figure it out cognitively.

I think its just a matter of colour contrast and nothing to do with racism. Wooden chess sets often have pieces made out of a light wood such as pine and a dark wood like teak.

I can't believe you even asked this. Do you just go around looking for examples of racism? Okay. Seriously. Racism barely exists anymore. Reperations have been paid, you have affirmitive action, I'm gonna have a hell of a time getting into college because of it. So give up on the racist crap.

Perhaps because the oldest known chess sets were constructed of ebony and ivory?

Is a newspaper racist because when they take a photograph, light skinned people are white, darker skinned people are black, even if they're not?
No.
They're basic colors.
