Ok so my new car makes these grounding sounds when it is stationary. It is only when i change from Drive to Reverse or when i apply the brakes when i do lets say parallel parking. When i am driving everything is normal. A friend of mine had the same thing going on (new car too) and i have also asked a mechanic (not of the dealer) and they both told me that the sound is made by the shifting solenoids in the car and that the sound is perfectly normal.

Is it? Does anyone now anything about it?

The car is a 2007 Mazda 3 5 door

Take to dealer. It might be an engine mount problem, loose exhaust shielding or an incorrect idle speed. Since this is such a new model, the factory might not have a fix for it yet. Keep bugging them if they can't fix it.

Take it back to the dealer. It should be covered by your warrenty. New cars aren't suppose to grunt.
