I think spongbob is smoking drugs...haha
The SS is faster than the GTO or the New Charger (I have driven all three at the track) and I have owned a GTO and a 00 SS. I will say the 05 GTO is faster than a stock SS but not prior to that year.
The 03 and 04 cobra is the fastest mustang to date..the 2002 will NOT GET INTO THE 12's regardless of the other guys delusions.
The 03 and 04 cobra was made to compete witht he corvette and it did in fact run in the mid to high 12's which is faster than the new charger, the SS, and the GTO (any year).
And if you need to go faster yet to really shut up an antagonist...just swap out the pulley in the cobra for 100 bucks and you will have around 500 horsepower to mop chargers, SS's, and GTO's all day long.

Depends on what year model your talking about...
The SS of the last generation is faster than just about any recent mustang except for an 03+ cobra, which I guess would be a pretty good match for it in stock form. However, the 03 Cobra having a supercharger out of the box makes it much easier to make good power with mods.
If your considering these two cars I hope you've considered what the insurance cost is, basically because I'm sure if your asking this question you are under 25 =)
Also, I assume your talking about fast as in going in a straight line from a standing start. Toss a surprise corner at either of them and they will go spinning off into the trees =)

These are the Average of Factory Specs of The Late 4th Gen Camaro SS (97-02)
Type: V-8, aluminum block and heads
Displacement: 5665 cc
Horsepower: 325 bhp@5200 RPM
Torque: 350 lb-ft@4000 RPM
Redline: 5500 RPM
0-60 mph: 5.2 sec
0-100 mph: 11.8 sec
Quarter mile: 13.49@ 107.3 mph
Top Speed: 160 mph
It Can be re-tuned and supercharged to run nines in a Quater mile. During these years the Camaro was faster than the production 911 Porsches available in the U.S.
The mustang cobras ran mid 14s in the mid nineties (93-96)
mid 13s in late nineties -00 (97-00)
mid 12s in 2002
however the newest supercharged mustang runs a 13.8 at best.
I don't know how well fords take mods though.
Both Stock, A Camaro SS would beat all but the '02 Stang in top speed, quarter mile, eighth mile, and 0-60.
I have seen both SS and Cobra modified run in the mid nines.
That kind of speed is crazy though, and neither car can manuever with all of that power and torque.

Faster to where laurie? Where are you going that you have to get there faster then anyone else? Let me tell you a little story about speed. First, cars aren't fast. Motorcycles are fast! I had a 1991 ZX1100, bought it new and out of the box!. At the time, the fastest production motorcycle in existence, and on a good day, capable of 180mph. But I had to take it one step further, so a jetting kit and Yoshimura pipes and a custom nitrous system, then later a pheumatic shifting system. So one early Sunday morning, I pull it out of the garage and head down 9A on the west side of the Hudson River towards Bear Mountain. It a screamer of a road and on Sundays almost deserted. When I went past the state Trooper he clocked me at 157 mph in a 55mph zone. Yeah, he tried to catch me, little chance and soon I was at the mall and quickly walked in. An hour later I walked out and had three troopers around my bike, a big mistaker with getting a slick custom paint job, it makes it unmistakeable to identify. To make this short, i had no points on my license before that, and it was the only thing that lent to me keeping my bike. But 3 points for the speeding ticket and 1 point for every 20 miles over! Do the math, 8 points for one ticket. Paid for that for the next three years. By the way the SS is heavier and more stable.

The Cobra is by far the faster car. I'd say a 2003 or a 2004 because the previous years just don't get up and go like these do.
