It is a performance package designation that started in 1967 with the first Camaro. Back then, and for a number of years, it meant that it came with a 302 cubic inch displacement motor. Chevy released this model to compete with Ford's mustangs in the SCCA's (Sports Car Club of America's) Trans-Am series. 302 was just under the maximum size requirement for the motor so Chevy created a special model to compete. The factory ordering code for this model was Z28. Chevy kept this name for marketing purposes over the years.

When the option originally came out it was the R.P.O. code (Regular Production Option) for the high performance version of the car. Every optional part has a code from the paint to the tires.
Sorry it isn't anything special.
