Just be truthful. Your friend is caught in the moment. When she ages and realizes the mistake she made according to her age, she will regret it. You see, she is not thinking about the child, but what is the cool thing to do at this age. Be a good friend, guide her, because sometimes we mature at different rates, always be true to yourself and your friends.

Ask her this simple question,
when this baby grows up into teenager what would her best friend call her!??
perhaps she'll try to find other names for this baby
otherwise she is the mother, and I have a this belief that no matter how she plans for the name or the clothing , when the child comes into life its name comes with it,

Propose to her what I call the "Supreme Court Justice" test. I can't name my children anything that doesn't sound awesome when you put the words "Supreme Court Justice" in front of it:
"Ladies and gentleman, may I present to you... Supreme Court Justice Shakira..."
See, that sounds silly. Maybe your friend will get a laugh out of it, but she'll get the point, without you hurting her feelings? Good luck!

Try to find out Shakira's non-stage name. Tell your friend that it invites more mystery and intrigue to name her the non-stage name. If nothing else, the child can do as I have done, and change her name later in life.

You know your friend better than we obviously do. She has asked your opinion. Give it to her. But don't do so in an insulting manner. Shakira is a very popular name right now. She obviously likes it. Tell her what you think, but do so gently. After all, it's her child.

Just tell her that while you think it's a pretty name, you're afraid it's just a brief trend type of a thing and that her daughter will be ridiculed for it by the time she reaches school. Unusual names are fine, but kids don't usually like to stick out in a crowd like that.

Tell her want you think. But in the end she will do what she wants anyway. Let her know that it is her decision to make but keep in mind how the child will feel in the future.

Tell her perhaps it would be more fun to come up with a more original name, something nobody has heard of. You've got to save this kid from a terrible fate, people judge others by their names. If someone didn't save me my name would be Billy Jean. Save the kid!

She asked your opinion so give it to her.
My best friend is pregnant and asked me what I thought of the name Mercades. and I told her exactly how I felt.. which is that she may as well name her kid benz or bentley..
If she likes the name enough she won't care what you think anyway..

just let her know that it is not about what she wants the kid is the one who has to go through school witht that name and if they get teased their mother will be VERY unpopular and they will resent her a lot for giving her that name.
