In Japanese, the country is called Nihon or Nippon. The two Chinese characters (i don't know if you can see 'em, here, but they're at the link) may be translate as "origin of the sun" or "land of the rising sun". The name Japan is believed to have come from European pronunciation attempts of Chinese words for "Japan". japan's flag is the rising sun as japan is the land of the rising sun.

Well i think it means new begginngs, but I dont think you should get that tatoo, I mean does it even mean anything to you? You should get only meaningful tatoo's. Like the texas state of flag or long horn with the texas colors, if you were born in TEXAS!!!! LOL!
