I don't see the point in having 6,7,8 kids. What kind of life is that?

In the past, people had a lot of kids to make sure that some survived. The death rate was high and in order to make sure that one or two survived the couple would have a lot of kids. This isn't the case today, but the instinct is still there.

The bigger question is not how many kids can the couple afford, but how many people can the planet support. I know a lot of people will not agree, but at some point we are going to run out of resources. The world will simply not be able to grow enough food. At that point, population control will be a hard fact of nature when people die of epidemics from overcrowding and poor nutrition.

Sociologically speaking, a couple should have two kids to replenish the population. 1 for each parent.

Some people like kids and choose to have many. There is nothing wrong with it. My mother came from a family of 7 and my father came from a family of 9. And they always tell me how great it was growing up with so many siblings.

I only come from a family of 3 and want no more than 2 kids myself.

But to each their own. Some people can afford to have many kids, so they do. =)

I say either two, more, or none. One child will be without any siblings if something were to happen to a couple (as in death). I think preparing is always an asset. If something were to happen that the couple dies...It would be nice for the children to have a sibling at least.

I would have to go for 2 childern if the relationship with the spouse is in good conditons. But the relationship is rocky they should settle for one at the begining time . If years pass then they should go for another one. Usually it is considered normal to have just two kids. It is very avarage. You child always needs a playmate.

It's really not up to say how many kids a couple should have...That is something private and between them. If they have the money and can provide for many kids--why shouldn't they have them?

People should have as many kids as they can competently and financially care for, no more. Some people want a big family. I personally don't want any, but hey, it worked for the Von Trapps.

My sister who is very much older and very much wiser than me said " You cannot be done having children untill you each have one of yourselves" Kinda a paybackforward thing I guess.

Yeah, two is good, three is ok...past that is too much.
