We are Different from Other People because We are "Other People" ! The USA is made up of People from all over the World ! That's why so much was Invented here! The Record Player, The Airplane, The Radio, the Electric Light Bulb, the Vacuum Tube, the Transistor, the Integrated Circuit, the Television, the Video Tape Recorder, the Compact Disc, the Computer, the Liquid Fuel Rocket, The First People on the Moon, and, yes, the Atom Bomb. And so very much more. Many of the People that came up with these wonderful Inventions were Immigrants, who came to the USA with nothing but a Dream. With a Free and Open Government that allowed them to do whatever they wanted to do, so much was Invented ! Now, if the rest of the World could just Wake Up, and see this, all War, Hatred,Poverty, and Ignorance would come to an End ! Especially in the Middle East ! If there is indeed a "Great Satan", then He wishes for the Conflict between Sunnis, Shiites , Kurds, Iranians, Iraqis, Egyptians, Jordanians, Syrians, Afghanis, Yemenis, Saudi Arabians, North Africans, on and on, to Continue ! If These People could form some sort of Cooperative Federation absent of Militarism, they would also be "Different from other People" in a very Positive Way ! The Arab/Moslem People are so very Intelligent ! Osama Bin Laden is a Case in Point. The Man has an Engineering Degree, and Speaks several Languages. He could have done so very much, with his Intellect to further the cause of the Arab World. Instead, He is Consumed with Hatred. And what Good has come from it ? In Life, One is either part of the Problem, or Part of the Solution. The Founding Fathers in America knew this 230 Years ago. That is what makes "Americans Different from other People" !

Americans are different to other people in the same way that the British are different to other people. All nationalities are unique.

They have their own national values and pride.

The one big distinguishing difference that sets Americans apart from most other nationalities is that they do actually think they are the greatest. They have a strong sense of patriotism and self-belief. American morality is internally very strong and they are, for the most part, quite sincere in their intentions.

To be fair - politically America dominates the world. Culturally their commercial ideals have spread around the globe (ie McDonalds in the far reaches of India etc).

As payment for their self-love and Americanism, they attract much hate and malice from most / many other nations. There's nothing worse for someone who is not American to watch the Olympics or the World Cup and hear the chanting ' USA! USA! USA!'. It is an underlying feeling that Americans stomp in and impose their presence wherever and whenever, with no regard to other cultures and people groups.

Obviously these are generalisations - and this is the way global perception has fitted America and it's people. It would take alot to undo these views.

Of course when you know an average American personally, they are generally as normal as anyone else on the planet - not much different at all. If but a tiny bit delusional.

Our geographic isolation prevents the convenience of intra- cultural travel or the willingness to experience things not American. In a country as vast as the US many people never see any need to even get passport. I have lived outside the USA for 16 years now and my perspective of the world is quite different than my rural Missouri beginnings. Americans have much to offer the world but have a general resistance to acceptance of what the world has to offer Americans.

Our only difference now is that we are more materialistic than most other peoples, and we, as a whole, can no longer afford those material items.

Otherwise Americans are no different from anyone else.

Well supporting a government that has killed thousands of people and still continues to do so. Spouting democracy even though Bush wasn't democratically elected the first time. Their big egos and extremist patriotism.

We are free! Our constitution gives us freedoms that are only dreamed of in many other parts of the world. We are raised with the idea that it is a positive thing to be an independent free-thinking person.

b/c they're either ignorant, or cocky, or think their way is the only way...

but in reality, Americans and other people around the world from other places are ALL the same in many ways ...
some Americans just can't/don't/wont/ except these simularities (or just don't know... some of us in the USA do tend to be sheltered).

What other people?

America is a melting pot for the world.

Look anywhere in America and you can find a person from just about every country.

Until we find people on other planets there are really no other people to compair to.
