The answers are correct. but why?

for a percent (here 60%), you move the decimal over two spaces to the LEFT of the percent sign. So ... 60% becomes .60

This is important later. For example: 60.5% is (move the decimal two spaces to the left) .605. What about 125% -- move decimal two spaces, and its 1.25.

You cannot multiply percentages, but you CAN multply decimals. So the problem gets simple.

75

125*.6=75

.6 is 60% as a decimal. to make a decimal, u take out the percent sign. and since 60 with a decimal point would be 60.0, u move the decimal 2 places to the left.

Theres another way that is alittle longer.

is/of=%/100

what "IS" "60%" "OF 125"

now you substitute. OF would be 125. % would be 60. 100 stays as 100 and since you dont know what IS is, then its x.

is/of=%/100
x/125=60/100

Then you solve for x.

x/125=60/100
x/125=3/5 (divide 60 and 100)
5x=375 (cross multiply)
x=75

X would be ur answer.

I gave you 2 ways and i hope they both help you. Mark as best answer please and thank you. =]

The easiest way to do percentages like this one is to find what ten percent is. That usually pretty easy, right? Then muliply that by 6 and there ya go. If it was like what is 65% you would multiply it by 6.5.
