A movie should be good and tell good morals/values and give enjoyments/humour etc. But Chick flick is slang, often derisive, for a movie that appeals mainly to women or young girls, either by design or in popular opinion. While the term is relatively new, the concept of films designed to appeal specifically to women has existed since the early days of cinema and has been known by other colloquial terms, including "women's pictures".

Chick flicks sometimes focus on romance or relationships. Sometimes they have many female characters and/or a female lead. Sometimes they are romances or romantic comedies. Sometimes they are patterned after the story of Cinderella (e.g. The Princess Diaries, A Cinderella Story, Ever After). Many men dislike chick flicks seeing them as sissy or uninvolving. An often-used joke when creating exceedingly masculine characters is to have them be secret fans of chick flicks.

Critics of the term have pointed out that movies aimed specifically at men are not labeled so derisively.

It is better to avoid them

when i watch a movie it better have at least one of the following:
1. explosions
2. guns
3. fighting
4. beautiful women not wearing much.
5. guns
6. wild animals
7. funny stuff
8. guns
9. a really good plot
10. heavy equipment or fast cars(with guns)

I am able to watch a "chick flick" if it has a really good plot or is funny, but most of the time i dont go for a crybaby flick where mediocre actors blather on about feelings for an hour and a half and expect you to believe its "character development". i see those types of things on airplane rides, where the main guy character is such a dunce/metrosexual/wuss. i hope its a joke. i hope chuck norris will flip out and roundhouse kick his jaw and gunny will drive a M1 abrams tank over his SUV. but it never happens. he just keeps being a puss and the girl just stands there and listens to that crap.

the only chick flicks i liked were labyrinth(with david bowie and puppets) and robinhood(with errol flynn). those were cool. if benafleck had to go infiltrate a castle to take his woman to the late night merry men BBQ he would give up and go shampoo his hair. robinhood went in with his buddies and fought a few hundred guards, and was so heterosexual that he could wear tight pants and not look the remotest bit gay.

I don't think "all" men hate chick flicks, they might not be the first choice, but some guys will watch them and "enjoy" them.
