In general, watching television decreases your intelligence and creativity. It does it indirectly but it is therefore done. The reason is rapidly changing images. Anything that is shown on TV (or even movies in theatres), an image doesn't stay on the screen for long. The long time effect is that you loose your ability to focus on one thing. It is harder to listen to one thing for a long time. It becomes harder to watch one thing for a long time. It becomes harder to THINK about a single thought for a long time. So obviously, when you are trying to figure out something, a particular problem maybe, it is much harder to do so because you can't keep your thoughts on one thing. Your brain is used to rapid change.

That is why things like meditating, which involve staring at a distant object (like a dot on the wall) or closing your eyes and trying to imagine something and keep it that way, help you A LOT. Trust me, this is from personal experience. Every night, do it for like 5 minutes before you sleep. Just close your eyes, lie still, imagine a dot, and keep your eyes on it. In the beginning, it will be harder but the results will be obvious very fast. After a few days of meditating, I would just close my mind and think of a particular color or an object and it would instantly come before my eyes. It was sooooo cooooooool!

Everything in moderation. If what you are watching inspires you to get up and go create, then it increases. But if you sit and watch it all the time then it decreases, and the only thing that increases is your butt! So if it's too much television, then I would definitely say decrease.

Depends on what you watch. There are many educational channels on television that we can learn from. But if you think the Flintstones is a historical documentary, then you are in trouble.

in my opinion, you are born with a certain level of intelligence - the ability to learn, analyze, comprehend... this doesn't really change, IMO.

when you watch too much TV, you become lazier and lazier. if Albert Einstein had spent all of his time watching TV shows - he would not have become "less intelligent", but obviously he wouldn't have come up with the theory of relativity either. watching too much TV causes bad time management and laziness, and watching good TV (documentaries) gives you more "knowledge", but your intelligence doesn't change, IMO.

I think tv corrupts our children when they watch the wrong programs. I also think that it has too much influence on kids and that is why we have weirdos!
