It is running on Window XP...Server is high speed cable...If it shuts down, without me first putting it on standby, it won't wake up..It often has to be rebooted to get any response...It only allows a few minutes of idle time before doing this, so if I'm watching a video or movie, etc..It freezes...It is 6 months old and has always done this..

Most notebook computers will go into standby when idle to save battery power. To prevent your computer from doing this Right click on an empty place on your desktop and select properties. In the display properties dialogue that appears, select the screensaver tab at the bottom there is a button for power settings, click that then in the drop down dialogues you can specify the length of time it will take before your computer can go into standby, turn off hard disks and shut off the monitor. I have all 3 settings on NEVER.... I change the settings when I know my laptop is on just battery power... hope this helps

In the control panel, click on the Power Management icon and adjust the sleep mode or suspend delay. That should take care of your problem

Buy a different computer, other than a Dell. This should solve your problem. Anyway, maybe your battery is ready to explode.
