Ok, I am really confused as to what to answer, when asked. I was born in Boston, raised in Mexico City, my father is Mexican (but Spanish ancestors) my mother is Swiss. I live in San Diego, and every time I have to answer any any form, it asks for my "ethnicity".

Boston has nothing to do with ethnicity-Mexico City has nothing to do with ethnicity-your father was Spanish, meaning Europe-mother was Swiss-Europe again---you are Caucasian. You should tell them that you are Inuit, that way you will be able to get more financial aid.

The fact that you are born in Boston and raised in Mexico City is irrelevant to ethnicity. If your dad is Mexican, and mom Swiss, then you are half Mexican and half Swiss, therefore, half Hispanic and half Caucasian.

Where you have lived has nothing to do with your ancestral ethnicity. Your father is Hispanic, your mother is European, presumably White. So you are half White, half Hispanic. If you want to delve further, you already know your Mom is Swiss, so you need to research your Father's side more, as you say Spanish ancestors. In the end, I believe the answer will be half white, have hispanic.

Spanish, Mexican and Swiss sounds apporpriate. If on a mtg application, for Reg B and C, Hispanic might be appropriate.

I've seen applications with Other and blank line, I would say Hispanic & Caucasin. If you don't feel comfortable, I would say choose the ethnicity that you most associate with. Be proud of your different ethnicity.

It doesn't matter. Check which ever you're more comfortable. Unless you're filing for financial aid. Then you're Hispanic. That might sound bad, but it works.

You're the kind of American I like to brag about when I explain to someone what an American really is. You are a true American, a true mix of cultures!
