Now everytime i try to edit the words on the page the background disappears... then i have to reenter the background html code... it is getting soooo annoying. what am i doing wrong?! someone please help me!!! Thank you for all your suggestions... anything i can try will be useful!

there is a easy way of creating web pages you dont need to know much HTML,Go to google page creator..........click here its in google labs.......

I can comprehend how ennoying this could get.

1. try some HTML editor rather than working in html Codes,
If you are working in Microsoft FrontPage> right click >page properties>background>make sure you save the background in the same folder as the index.html

2. if you want to work with tags.
please copy paste the tag in the of the page

this command would pull the background image from any folder on your computer. do not put complete path. this should work fine

Maybe the background was formatted wrong... Try the ones on mbif.net. That's where I learned a lot of my html stuff.

create a cascading style sheet(CSS). its easier to control the look of your webpage using CSS.CSS is essentially a set of rules that define the design and layout of a html doc.try to enter this tag line within the tags

you can type in the color you want as well as choose margin side and distance.
the above method is embedding the css within the same web page doc.its useful this way if you are creating 1or 2 page site.however if you you create more pages then you can make a separate css sheet and link it with your web page doc.
