There is this great book called Mars and Venus in Touch by John Gray that explains this. According to Gray, men need to receive:
1. Trust
2. Acceptance
3. Appreciation
4. Admiration
5. Approval
6. Encouragement, while women need to receive:
1. Caring
2. Understanding
3. Respect
4. Devotion
5. Validation
6. Reassurance.
Basically, men thrive on appreciation and women thrive on communication, so if we can understand and appreciate these differences we can learn to communicate more effectively.

Sometimes women tend to think with their hearts than their minds. I think both men and women are emotional to an equal extent but men tend to be stronger in holding their emotions I would say. However, I think perhaps women have more patience than men in some cases. Most women I know say that when men are sick , they are like kids- even worst at times lol.

women are more prone to histrionics. they are nurturing yet crave attention, they stab each other in the back, they find self worth in their looks and monetary things, they lie better than men, manipulate better then men. men are straight forward (generally), they are better problem solvers, they forgive easier (generally), they are less likely to cut another man down to make themselves look better (generally). Men handle powerful positions better. Women are more creative. I'm a woman, but give me a male best friend any day. Okay females, start giving me my thumbs down now. Sorry but its my take on things.

Men want to solve problems and then not dwell on the problems. Women want to discuss and regurgitate it and emotionalize it and keep it going on forever.

you cannot say how they differentiate by emotions. everyone is different and saying men are aggressive and women are kind is sexist, right?
