my dell c-series laptop has an external floppy drive that i would like to use in my dell dimension t600r.

is this:
possible?
safe?
reccommended?

any software installation needed? thanks in advance. any clarification needed, just ask.

You should be able to plug that sucker right in to your desktop and it will install itself... There is absolutely no reason you can't do this and it will not do any harm.

I have one myself and do this all the time.

if it is USB 2.0 there should be no problem connecting to other computers. If there are any drivers or cds that came with the drive upload them to the new computer and it should work. It will not harm the computer in any way.

if it is a usb, yes. Most computers come with no floppy fdrive no days, so you would use a usb floppy

the only problem I'd see is the voltage connector. Make sure you connect it to the right pins, unless it's USB.

if its USB or serial connection, then thier is no problem at all.
