And no, I'm not being racist, just asking a question based on my observations.
White girls generally go natural with their hair. Sure, they'll dye it different colors or give it a slight curl or slight straighten once in a while, but they rarely dramarically change it to being like black girls natural hair. Where as black girls usually do dramatically change theirs and straighten it like white girls hair instead of going natural. Sure, some go natural, but most don't.
Why?
Please, if you decide to answer this question with a question, still explain what I asked above. Thankyou.

kanye_ni99a15 - Why be afraid to answer this. Things like this should be talked about in the open for everyone to read/hear.

Mrs_Tatum - Good point but remember what I mentioned above. Don't answer this with another question unless you give me a clear answer to mines.

Pamela N - Thats true, but I already mentioned that. And there not doing the same thing to the same extreme. Black mimic whites hair. But whites rarely mimic black girls hair. Why would natural black hair be considered unsexy? How exactly is it easier to manage?

comingofage03 - No, I'm not enlightened by that, I already agree because thats what I witnessed as well as you did. I don't think your racist at all, I think your being realistic.
I just posed this question to read what others feel about it. I get tired of only knowing my side of the story. But good response.

Ms. Neeka - natural meaning you wake up, wash your hair, go to work the way it is. Not, wake up, wash it, straighten it with chemicals or hot comb, etc.

A question for everyone, whats so hard to manage about black girls hair with just wearing cute afro puffs. Get a bigger comb, comb it out real quick, and put hairs ties in it to get sexy styles. Why does it always have to be about getting it straightened? I can see it being hard to manage if you use a small comb and try to comb it like that. Thats torture. But it doesn't have to be like that does it?

Because it is more easy to manage and because no offense to anyone but some "whites" are more comfortable with blacks who have straight hair as opposed to course dreaded hair. I do believe that it is a sub conscious bias...but unfortunately we live in a country that is control by others and not by all so often you have to summit to others standards in order to be successful. I'm sure someone will say I'm racist but I dont expect you to understand because I live in my black skin everyday along with my "nappy" hair :) so I know what's going on. I hope that I enlightened you

First off, i want to know what u mean by "natural"? Is there a certain way a black person's hair has to be? Cuz my hair is straight and natural and im black! And yes i was born with my hair like that. But to answer your question, straight hair is easier to manage

It's fashion that's all.
Ignoring race, let's look to pop culture -- remember the Brady Bunch when they all got a perm? The guys looked hilarious! Sigh, I guess it was hip at the time.
Fashion will never be understood by a social observer.

Many white girls get spiral perms and body waves.
I live in Houston and many of the white girls here DO NOT GO NATURAL!
Those with curly hair, flat iron it. Those with straight hair, curl it or get curly perms.
However, I'm sure more white girls than blacks girls go natural, but if your hair was very thick, very curly, and hard to manage with you struggle with it daily, or go get a relaxer to make it more easy to manage?

its not a racist question so i don't see why i shouldn't answer it (black girl here)
black women have too much volume and its hard to manage our hair, its thicker than the average white girls hair and more wiry. white women with thin hair use something to add volume but we have to straighten to get rid of some of the volume (no shampoo for us)

Black girls straighten their hair because it's easier to manage. I personally like my hair natural. I was lucky enough to be born with very beautiful curly hair that isn't too tightly curled or thick. I know a whole lot of white girls who straighten their hair. Dyeing your hair is not being natural. Chemicals are used when you dye your hair, so white girls are doing exactly the same thing as black. Women in general try to change their looks.

I actually haven't noticed that, but if it's true, i think black girls' hair are more unruly and harder to control then white girls' hair. maybe that's why black girls do more stuff with their hair then white girls.

Ok, I see what you mean. BUT, why do white girls tan? Are they trying to be hispanic or black? Why don't they go natural and leave their skin color alone? I think they do it because straight hair is easier to tame. Besides, straight hair looks nicer. NOW, why do white girls tan?(I think you should post this question too huh?)
