40 weeks is the norm, but anytime in the last few weeks you can go into labor and the baby is fine. Some people have what is called back labor, where your contractions come more so in your back. If this has just started in the last few hours or couple of days, could be the beginning stage. Could also be your pelvis stretching to prepare your body for labor. Either way, just don't get to far from home or the hospital. I had my first child at almost 37 weeks and was away from home when I went into labor. Best wishes to you and your new baby.

It may be early labor. Full term is considered anywhere between 37 and 43 weeks...so expect your precious little one soon.
I had cramping and "braxton hicks" contractions for four days before i had the baby...nothing too painful, just cramping/contractions. When they come strong enough that you can no longer smile...u will know teh pain of true labor. If you're sitting at ur computer awaiting these replies, you aren't there yet.
Good luck with this. How exciting. My little boy just turned two and I'm itching for another. :) They're just little darlings.

It just may be. It could be brakstin hicks . It's just false labor, but it is a way of saying he you need to get ready.. If you can time these pains say like you get them every 10 Min's then they go to 5 and then 3. you can be sure that baby is coming.. I have 2 kiddos. So I'm not just making this up .

it's more than likely braxton hicks, which is normal and nothing to worry about. once your waters break u know u are going to have baby soon. at 37 weeks u are very close i was having these pains when i was pegnant with my first son and i came 2 weeks late so just relax lie down and elevate your legs.
if thy become more frequent and painful or your waters break or u have ur show then call the hospital they will tell u what to do!
good luck and congratulations.

Could be Braxton Hicks contractions(practice). Just pay attention to how far apart they are. If there is about the same time between each one, then it could be the beginning of labor. I had painless contractions 20 mins apart from 6pm on the Saturday, 5 mins apart from 12pm when i woke on the Sunday, went to the hospital after they got painful(Sunday 10pm) and had my baby at 6:52 am on Monday.

Time your contractions. If they are more than 7 mins. apart you're fine, but if they get closer together, you may want to go to the doctor.I talked to my doctor when I was 38 wks and he said nothing to worry about, but I worried anyway. Whan i got to the ER, I had dialated 5cm. One hour later, I had a son. Keep a watchful eye on yourself.Good luck!!

Braxton Hicks contractions should ease after you move or change positions - i.e. laying down to sitting up to walking. Real labor continues on and on . . .
I would think your body is getting ready. Good Luck!

This is normal...It is the baby getting ready for birth. The only thing you should worry is when your contractions are so many mins apart and signs of blood or if your water breaks....

If you time them and they are even and steady call your doctor - it could be just braxton hicks but it could be early labor which will steadily get more sharp. Call your doctor/midwife just to keep him/her informed.
