I was wondering about this, b/c my CJS book mentions it without getting into details of what exactly are the political reasons?? Can someone help me to better understand this concept! In addition, besides ransom n political reasons, what are other reasons for kidnapping?? Any help will be much appreciated!! Thank u.

Most all kidnappings are for personal gain, generally for the ransom. Some are for political reasons, but they seldom work.
There is a third reason that splits in to two parts. The one is when the target (generally a woman) is taken for domination and the other is when a non-custodial parent (or relative) takes a child out of revenge. Most often these are the kidnappings that result in the murder of the victim.
