They make these ultrasonic pest repellers now. They emit a sound so high-pitched humans can't hear it, but rodents find it unbearable and leave. They're supposed to be safe for dogs and cats, too. I'd look into that.

I am using the Hartz Ultrasonic pest repellers. You plug them into an outlet and the emil a high pitched frequency that mice hate, so they leave. So far, they have been working pretty well (the past 3 months), but fall is coming up and that is the time the mice really try to come in. I guess I will really find out soon how well they work.

You have to use a lot of them, as the sound they make doesn't go through walls or big objects. I think they are like $20 for three. I bought them at Wal-Mart, I believe.

They are nice b/c you will not find any dead mice around, or have any terrible smell like you get when poisoned mice die in the walls. Also, I have a dog and he is not bothered by the sound at all.

If we're talking a mouse that is currently running around in your house in front of you, you may want a pest control service.
If you know of a place where they're getting into your house (without using electricity from an outlet with an ultrasonic repellent plug-in) cotton balls soaked with peppermint oil, NOT extract like for baking around holiday time, stuffed in the suspected entrance/exit. You could use steel wool, but mice will eventually chew through this and peppermint oil will repel all-sized rodents from far away.

use a live trap, it will not hurt the mouse and you can set it free in the woods away from your home. You should be able to get a live trap at the humane Society. At lee here in Las Vegas you can and it don't cost anything as long as you return it when you finish with it. A $20 dollar deposit that you get back when you return it.

They make humane mouse traps that catch and allow you to release them. Put in something like a peanut butter or cheese snack. You can buy them at home improvement stores.

eliminate any food source. try and find out where they are coming in so u can block the hole. check under your sink for holes. they have hav- a-hart traps which catch them so u can take them down the street to the woods somewhere instead of killing them. make sure theyre closed when not in use. if u just kill them which is mean others will still keep coming back. u have to find their entrance and block it. if its an odd shape steel wool will work. small holes--plain old glue works. sometimes strong scents such as cayenne pepper, moth balls, or peppermint extract will work because they hate the smell. just spread it around in the area they roam.

The best way to get rid of mice is to get a cat.

If a cat doesn't fit your life, you can get live traps (the mice won't die)

You can also buy poison.

Good Luck

spread some really sticky glue on a board or sheet of paper in the area the mouse goes. Put some crumbs or cheese crumbs on it. Or put duct tape on a board with the sticky side up.

Buy some glue traps. They keep the mouse alive because his feet get stuck to the glue. You then have to decide how to dispose of the m-o-u-s-e.
