My daughter is 10 months old and chewing as well as she can with only two bottom teeth. She is well passed the pureed stage, and is learning to finger feed herself (she could care less about a spoon right now, but it is there if she wants to try it out). I want to make sure she is getting enough protein in her diet, and was hoping for some ideas in that area because meat is too tough for her. I also would like some variety as well. Your ideas would help alot!

try lentils with vegetables, and white fish or salmon in a cheesy or creamy chive sauce. Pulses are good too. Maybe try cous cous with chicken. try a mini shepherds pie. I make my daughter minced chicken, that goes down well. Try making pasta with those tiny pasta shapes with a fresh home made bolognese sauce. There is alsorts that you can make for your child at this stage, be adventurous and use herbs to flavour instead of salt (i'm sure you knew that already!) good luck.

Go to the baby food isle and Gerber has toddler food it's good for them and they love it. My daughter likes the little puff treats, they also have little cereal bars with fruit in them, or nutrigain bars. Gerber also makes cookies that they can eat. Or try green beans just make them a little softer by cooking them longer.

Carrots, peas, keep giving her meat in the baby food. Eggs are good protein and beans if you can mash them up some and feed them to her.

No eggs, peanuts, peanut-butter or popcorn until baby is a year old. Try Yo Baby yogurt, or other kid friendly yogurts, high quality canned fruit (Dole, Del Monte) pears, peaches, cut them up so she does not choke. Cheerios, soft cheese, bananas, Gerber fruit or veggie puffs, steamed carrots until soft and dice them up. Mashed potatoes.

Peanut butter and eggs have lots of protein in them, and are easy to eat, too. You might try tuna fish (since it's got a mashed texture, it's easy to eat), canned chunk chicken or turkey (since it's canned, the texture tends to be less solid), or ground beef in casseroles or pasta.

I usually would give my kids what we ate, in small portions. Baked Chicken and Veggies. Spegetti with pureed extra veggies. Bananas, cherrios, toast with strawberry cream cheese, cheese, green bean, peas.

Be careful with peanut butter and egg white, you are supposed to wait until they are one before you introduce those foods, for allergy reasons.

scrambled eggs. Little tiny bits of meat. I made all of my son's food, used a food processor. He ate the samethings we did, loved spaghetti and meatballs.

I believe chick peas are rather high in protein & kids seem to like them because they're bland tasting.
