I hear what you are saying. I've been in the restaurant business for 16 yrs. I've know exactly what you are saying. Alot of times people they think they are a paying customer and they can act like that. Another reason is when people are hungry they get moodie, They will take it out on anyone if they can. You just happened to be there at a bad time. If you didn't do anything wrong I don't feel that you need to apologies. Just do your job and don't take it to personally. It's not your fault that they had a bad day.....

I know I'm going to sound like everyone else before me here, but, do yourself a favor - when you encounter a person with a bad attitude, smile & smile bright - I know it's hard, and say - as nice as you can be - What can I get you to make your day better? - with that bright smile. Say it nicely, not mean. Don't clench your teeth (been there). Try & mean it. Most people will lighten their load a little & be nicer, otherwise there are just some jack***** out there that you will never please. Laugh it off, let it go & move on to the next customer. By the way, don't ever apologize for something you didn't do wrong. Have a great day!!

Honestly, that's life in a service industry. Don't take it personally. All you can do is be unfailingly polite and treat them as if they were nice people. Only apologize if you do something wrong, but if they tell you they had a bad day, you could say "I'm sorry to hear that. Now what can I get for you?" Occasionally, someone may respond to your friendly politeness and actually lighten up, but even if they don't, you've done your job. If they actually start abusing you, call a manager and let him deal with it. Enjoy the good customers and don't let the crabby ones ruin your day. You can't always control how people treat you, but you can decide to control how you will react to things. It really sucks that people take out their frustrations on you, but as long as you are in this sort of job, you just have to learn how to let it roll off of you.

your kind of work really deals with these kinds of customers.
I guess you are working in a shift in a time the customers really need to get orders quickly so you might need to prepare for it and relax yourself before reporting to your workplace.
I worked in a different shifts before and I chose to work on a morning shift, they come smiling and greeting and not yet stressed but when it comes to lunch time,,be prepared.
Just keep on smiling and do the best you can, they know you are doing your best, you can't control everything but you can control yourself and enjoy serving and get yourself a treat after a hard days work. Apologizing for their bad mood on that day would not help but pretending you are happy to serve them no matter what they are dealing, they would appreciate it.
Even a restaurant owner and a manager deals with an unsatisfied customers..it would always be a part of the business.
good day!

People have bad days... no matter what position you are in (unless you are a major executive maybe) other people's moods are going to affect you in some way. I think the best thing you can do is smile and just do your job - don't let it get to you. You don't have to apologize for their bad day - just smile! I know its hard but sometimes you have to go overboard and be nice people to avoid a bad situation... once you get in the habit of it, you might enjoy it- and help make every body's day a little better.
Someday your kindness will be returned to you. Good Luck!

b/c they think that people that work at fast food places are nothing wich is bullsh**. They are people to I know how you feel b/c I had it happend to me when I was working at bk a few months ago now im at cracker barrel as a prep cook making good money but what happend was I was working threw drive threw and the lady told me she needed ketchup and I had her pull up so I could pay out the other customer while her food was being made. While when i brought out her food she asked if ketchup was in the bag I said yes she comes in bitching at me in front of everyone and i said mam im sorry but I thought i had it in there and my manger sits up here and yells at me F*ck that i quit and went to crackerbarrel which is 100% better. Find another job or go to a resturant so much better then fast food.

perhaps , you may think of trying to find another line of work because any time you are dealing with the public there are always going to be those people who will make you want to pull your hair out . sometimes you just get to the point you have to get away from it for a while. if not , you're just going to have to go out of your way to try & be extra nice & hope they will calm down soon & give you a really big tip for how bad they have acted . why not try a comment about a lovely blouse they have on , their purse or something to make them feel good to try & turn their day around. i pray this works for you. god bless!!

They are weak people... they take it out on people that serve them, because they know those are the only people in the world who can't do or say anything back to them.
I feel for ya bro, been there done that.
That is why I try to be as pleasant as possible to every person that serves me, no matter how crappy my day is.

i've been a store manager of restaurant and facing the situation many many times. Yet, i believe in any other industry as well, when people on bad mood, they tend to give the crap out of them to others. so chill out bud ... you are not alone and don't take it personally. You are the control of your day !
