I am stepmom and have raised her as one of my own. Her mom is getting more and more into the drug scene and thinks she should still have input into raising of daughter. Husband received sole custody of both children within six months of mom leaving. She has been allowed very reasonable access and has never paid any child support.

None It sounds like she has no respect for herself and didn't care very much about her children in the fist place. As far as I'm concerned you are their mother.

I always wondered how does one leave a child behind? It baffles me. Then when that child is fully grown, that parent thinks they can come back into the child's life and start putting in her two cents? Nope....don't let it happen honey. You are mom. You raise this little girl, were there when she was sick, woke up in the middle of the night, took her to her first day of kindergarten, bought her the first bra, heard the stories of the first boyfriend and survived the teenage years. If this lady wants to have a say, tell her to have another child and this time take care of it rather than set it on someone else's doorstep. If she pushes the issue, push a copy of the court order in her direction. Sole custody is hard to win, which means this lady had to really screw up to lose her rights in any decision making. Based on her lifestyle in the drug scene, I'd say, the decisions she's making now aren't too different from the ones she's made in the past. Rather than be the bad guy, have the hubby put his foot down and let her know where she stands. Until your daughter reaches 18, that lady shouldn't have a say in anything.

Then legally that mother has no right to any input in the child's life if she has never paid child support and your husband has sole custody. You are her mother and maybe see if you can legally adopted her as your own (if you want). Dont let the child around the druggy mom at all.

I understand what you are going through-----I have two step children and 3 others that their biological parents have nothing to do with them.

The only courtesy my husband and I show those biological is we let the kids know that if they ever want to talk to them it is okay. That no matter what we will always be here even when the other biological aren't.

Let the biological say what she wants but ultimately it is YOUR daughters, your husband, and your self who have final say so!

You've done right by her all these years so don't fret.

She burned her mother card when she left.
NONE. Sorry. She made her choice.
I don't know why the father allows a drug addict access to the kids. He needs a spine. Or a lawyer.
