I was at work when it all happened. We listened to it on the radio. I couldn't believe what I was hearing until I got home and saw the news.

At work. When I found out the second tower got hit, I just up and left at about 09:10. I wanted to just get away from the Wash DC area. By the time I got home the Pentagon was on fire. I was a total mess for a long time.

I had been counting the days til September 11 because it was the release date of a new cd by my favorite band, Slayer. I went to work that day, and drove a long ways to a mall at lunch to buy the cd. The mall was closed becaues of the attacks! This was in Florida, so it didnt make sense to me, but whatever. On the drive back to work, there is a circuit city. I stopped there and got the cd.
Interestingly enough, the cd is called "God Hates Us All". There are record store promo posters for the cd that says "God Hates Us All - coming 9/11/01". They are collectors items now.

Living in an Islamic country. I was oversees in Malaysia and watched the events unfold live on CNN, including the second plane hitting Tower I and people jumping from the buildings. I knew at that moment that I was watching history in the making which would impact American viewpoints for the rest of our lives. As Roosevelt said, "a day that would go down in infamy". What really bothered me was hearing the locals say "Good - they finally got what they deserved".

It was my freshman year of high school and when it started I was in my theatre class. My teacher got a call and just got up and left. When he got back he told us something about a crash at the world trade centers, but it was vague and at the time I thought he was talking about the stock market.
We went to the next class, mine was Japanese, and we watched it on the news. Everyone was pretty quiet.
Something strange was, the night before I had a dreamless sleep, which hardly ever happens to me.

Astoria, Oregon. Serving in the Coast Guard. I rode a lawn mower for most of the day, while the higher-ups figured out what to do about physical security.

I was at home, it was afternoon in the place I am living it. I turned the TV on and I saw the two towers in fire. At first I decided it's some movie. I watched when the second tower collapsed. It was horrible - you know people are dieing in this moment , but you can only watch.

i had had insomnia the night before, so i was up. watching the news that morning in my living room. when *it* came on i was having a cup of swiss mocha coffee and a slice of toast w/raspberry jam. my husband was at work, he's a military cop...so i knew he wouldn't be home any time soon. we lived on base. the base was locked down, i couldn't leave, and we had to stay in our homes all day. ive never been that scared, as my son came down the hallway rubbing the sleep out of his eyes and asking for a bowl of cereal. and i remembered that my husband was scheduled to go overseas on the 13th, and he still left...only not to the place we thought he'd be going. that was one sh!tty week!!!!
*ill never forget it*
