Three things??? I'd do one thing with it....Invest it in income producing real estate..... such as an apartment building..... this will give me a steady monthly income that is nearly tax free due to depreciation schedules and the real estate will actually increase in value faster than the rate of inflation. That way I would be free to do as I please and not have to worry about having an income. Look at it this way... I can spend the monthly rental income but always have my million dollar investment thus, I'd have my cake and eat it too..... By the way the return on a typical rental property in my area is about 1% per month which on a million dollar property would equate to about 10 grand a month or $120,000 a year .... not a bad living for someone who doesn't even work. By not having to earn an income like the other working stiffs I'd have lots of free time to do volunteer work and charity fundraisers.

I would buy CDs with the entire million. Then, on the assumption, that I would average at least a very modest 4% interest, I would put together a budget plan that would allow me to live on the interest ($40K per year). To keep from getting bored, I would get a part time job doing something I enjoy (rather than what would earn me the most money), and I would live happily ever after.

Buy my own house on the ouitskirts of a city. Probably on Riverdale in Yonkers. A couple minutes from yonkers and the Bronx. That is at least $500,000. A BMW 530i custom(rims, stereo and tints. That's it). Suzuki gsxr 750. And put the rest in bank. So that is about $600,000 total spent and $400,000 in the bank. Invest probably $100,000 in I don't know what and keep $300,000 in the bank. Oh yeah, I need to take my friends on a vacation. But that is prob only about $10,000. I would leave all in the bank and when I die, would want it all to be sold and given up to charity. Enjoy it while I am alive and I would not need it when I die. So I would donate it and let my friends do with my investment what they please. They are smart, so they would know what to do. The $300,000 in the bank will at least keep my mind at ease knowing I will not be broke. But charity will have it all, minus my investments, in a matter of years.

If i found I had gained $a million million, the 1st element i might do may be to purchase a clean Nissan Xterra. once I did that, i might set up a financial enterprise account and positioned a great bite of the money in there for my college for the subsequent 3 years. After that i'd supply maximum of it away, to my dad and mom, charities, ect.
