if you believe a confrontation between Islam and Christianity is unavoidable than it is very likely, that they give it a go, but I also agree with the previous answer, that the Chinese will give them a run for their money, on the final outcome, I won't speculate, but it will be ugly

From a historic point of view, Indonesia can lay no claim to Singapore because Singapore was never related to Indonesia politically. Prior to the Dutch arrival in the 16th century to the present day Indonesian archipelago, the political entities then consisted of many small states. The influence of those states have never spread beyond their immediate borders.

Singapore was a territory belonging to the Sultanate of Johore, until it was ceded to the British in 1819 and became a colony of the then British Empire. Singapore achieved self governance in 1959 and merged with Malaysia in 1962 before being expelled in 1965 from the Malaysian Federation.

As history has shown, neither Malaysia nor Indonesia can 'reclaim' Singapore based on past ties since in the case of Malaysia, she had renounced Singapore on not once but two occasions and in the case of Indonesia, those ties never existed in the first place.

However, this does not rule out the threat of annexation, which may be attempted by any state, not just Malaysia or Indonesia. If such a sorry state of affairs come about, it is unfortunate but true that some Singaporeans would make a run for it. But I believe many would stay and defend what is ours by right.

Erm... as those answers before me stated, Indonesia cannot reclaim Singapore as Singapore wasn't Indonesia's in the first place, and both are not related... Also, Malaysia cannot reclaim Singapore as Singapore has been officially declared as an independent nation, and is represented in the United Nations as a Country... Also, it was Malaysia that expelled Singapore as a malaysian state in 1965... So they have no reason to reclaim Singapore...

Well ... The answer is no. Singapore is an independent country and is represented in the UN as a country. So neither can state claims to it. Indonesia does not have anything to do with Singapore at all and as for Malaysia they gave us our independence a long time ago (hoping that we'll die - but that another story).

So NO :)

How could Malaysia and Indoneisa both reclaim Singapore?

They are two separate countries.

And Indonesia was a Dutch territory, not a British one the way Malaya States and Singapore were.

So the question is would Malaysia claim Singapore?

While Malaysia is the largest country, Singapore is the wealthier.

Why do you think Malaysia would take Singapore?

How can Indonesia "reclaim" Singapore since it never belonged to it in the first place? As for Malaysia, I don't think they're interested. You guys are just too full of yourselves. End of story.

Why on earth would you even think that? Just because Indonesia and Malaysia are muslim countries, it does not mean that they are out there trying to bully Singapore. Besides, Singapore has US support behind them, and I think Singaporeans can be assured that their big brother would never fail them. I think the whole question is absurd.

if you are talking about a hostile takeover like declaring war on singapore then that will be a dumb strategy. singapore has built themselves to be a very strategic key hub in SEA - financial, transportation, political, cultural, etc infrastructure is way better than all SEA nations. becos of this strength, any violent invasions will be out of the question. singapore has also built very strong political relationships with the US. As we all know, they are a global superpower and global police of sorts (leaves a lot to debate!). they will never let anything like that to happen. singapore is way to important in the region for any unrest in the country. infact, most nations in the region will likely step in to help if there were any imminent problems .

No, the status quo suits both Singapore and Malaysia just fine. I don't know what Indonesia has to do with it.

They cant even take care of themselves! Just look at the way they are screwing themselves up since time immemorial. I think its Singapore which will claim their asses. Dont deceive yourselves! In order to survive, Singapore definitely needs to expand since they are so small. And when the day comes, i'm sure Singaporean will rise up to the challenge.

And why are there still so many Chinese still living in Msia and Indo? Are they satisfied with the lack of progress and respect in those countries. It time to re-think for your allegiances and the future where only civilisation matters.
