as a human being, at most times you can get that extremely depressing feeling that you really are, in truth, not capable of much in reality....when one is accustomed to praying, this feeling never even culminates in your brain because you understand the fact that something have to be out of your control or capabilities in order for you to establish that connection with God who truly is capable of anything and everything...prayer gives you the opportunity to shift your burdens and worries to someone else's shoulder, in this case God, because that way you can rest assured that you have entrusted your problems into the hands of the entity that is the supreme and has the power to do whatsoever he wishes.

I woudn't say it is "necessary" to pray, but it sure makes a difference in one's life. Prayer releases tension as we hand our troubles over to a higher power, God. Prayer is conversation with God. It's like have a really neat, caring and gentle father who's always ready to listen to you. Once you release your prayers, which includes requests along with talking about things, you feel better. It's called the "cathartic" effect - the feel good feeling. If you pray and know you've been heard you will feel better. You hand over your troubles to God and trust that He's going to play an integral role in your daily life, which includes the troubles you've just handed to him.

It is not, we do things because we believe in them, people pray for favors or to give thanks, or just to get to a peaceful state after a very trying day or a bad experience. But it is not necessary, some people never pray, don't believe in God, their loss not his!

To have a closer walk with God. Some of the reasons why we should pray is for protection for ourselves, our children, relatives, friends, neighbors and our churches. We also need prayer for healing of mind, body and soul. We also need prayer in other areas as well.

It isn't. The people who want you to pray will tell you that it is, but they're just trying to control your behaviour.
Your belief system is strictly your own business. If that system involves a "god" or other divine being, how you communicate with it is strictly your own business, too.
The First Amendment gives us unconditional freedom of religious belief. No one has the authority to tell you what to believe or how to practice that belief. That includes telling you that how they communicate with their "god" is necessary.

So that you would not feel helpless. The concept of GOD evolved out of man's fear ! So we pray. I don't consider that belief in GOD or prayer is bad. I approve that. But the truth remains.

Few things r not in ur hand, u hv to believe only on GOD there, and u need to pray.
U can justify it. think how many times u recall GOD when u r happy, but when u will be in problem u will definately go to him. though its not good. we should remember him at every moment.

"We have not because we ask not." Actually the main purpose of prayer is to have fellowship with God.
There are 4 parts of prayer I believe
Praise
Thanksgiving
Petition
Supplication?
