I've worked many jobs, and have 3 years worth of college under my belt, but I have no idea what I want to do! Everywhere that I have worked has been uninspiring and dull. Are ALL jobs this way? How can I find my passion in life?

You don't have a passion for something...for one thing that really
matters to you??? If not, keep going to school and maybe search
your soul for what you are all about...you may find the answer lies within yourself and your experiences..be patient...you'll
find something that really inspires you...I hope, otherwise what's
life worth living if we do not find something we are truly passionate about??!! Best Wishes
Not all jobs are dull...and everybody has got their own niche..you
gotta find it within yourself

Not all jobs are really dull. I have found that a career is the most enjoyable when it is something that a person loves doing it and brings a passion to it. An idea is to maybe turn a hobby into a lifelong career. There are some hobbies that can translate into a great career. For example, someone who enjoys historical houses might enjoy rennovating them to their former glory. Another example is someone with a passion for drawing might become a graphic artist, animator, or book illustrator. In the past 6 months someone in my community opened a shop devoted to knitting.

I have a similar problem, and have asked myself the same questions. I don't have a degree or any special education. I've tried personality and career tests, explore some occupations, and I'd still get stuck. Sometimes or many times, I want to stop for a while and think about it. I also tried talking with a counselor who advised me to continue my edu, and take courses that I haven't taken before, or that might interest me. So, I decided to do that.

Of course, I haven't had a career, only the previous jobs I've held ever since I graduated from high school. Most of them were clerical/retail. I haven't tried many types of jobs...or experiences, I probably need to try to get out my comfort zone...

I'm still searching, myself...but some things I learned that might save you some time/headache/etc...

(1) What do you care about? What do you REALLY care about?
What are the three things that you want done/fixed in the world?
What things (good OR bad) make you want to do something about them, things that gives you "a fire in the belly?"

(2) What talents do you have? Put another way, what things come naturally to you, or at least natural enough that they don't freak you when things get hard (and they WILL, be sure of that)?

(3) What skills are you willing to learn...and be REALLY good at? The real satisfaction/power comes in finding something you will devote yourself to (Michael Jordan practiced HOW MANY THOUSANDS OF HOURS? But look at those Championship Rings - and the smile of satisfaction on his face!)

(4) Look at some of the people around you that you admire - the real (local) heroes that make their lives count. Look at their traits / characteristics and see how you can emulate them (you'll need them to make The Dream you have work). Are you willing to work to get there?

(5) Make it Moral. I Know, I Know, some people might accuse me of being "preachy," but one thing I DO Know...the Real Winners are people who stand up for the Right Thing (N.b.: I'm NOT Talking Political Bent, O.K.?). If there is any shade of dirt, dis, or darkness in what you are looking into, avoid it like the disease it is...

(6) Be Humble (NO, I DON'T mean "Po'mouth"). Be willing to listen, be willing to learn. Pay attention to those around you, especially those who are successful. Then emulate them...even ask them to teach/mentor you.

(7) Be who you are. You will be amazed at the people who want others around them who are willing to be just themselves, plain and simple.

I hope that helps, a little. I will pray for your success.

Take Care!

Go find out where they run the campbell-strong interest and aptitude tests, plunk some $$ down and take the tests. It will give you some real insight as to careers you may have never considered and is well worth the money.

Aspire to be the best at what ever you do. Make what ever you do a personal challenge. Look at your strong points. Find a job that you can utilize your strong points. If you don't know what they are, ask a friend. Keep looking for a job you can put your heart into it.

You should go to work for the zoo. They are always needing someone to spank the monkeys when they misbehave.
