liverpool and man utd have always had more money than all the other clubs and this is why they are the most succesful teams in english football history....they have always had more money, it is the main reason they have been historically the most succesful.
I support Chelsea and wouldn't pretend we are as big or succesful as liverpool or man utd but I have been a football fan all my life and enjoyed the man U and liverpool teams of the past three decades and enjoyed their football and quite often wished we had some of their players.
However I have also watched hundreds and hundreds of chelsea games up and down the country and up until a few years ago never even sniffed a major honour, tens and tens of thousands of hours travelling and watching matches we never had a prayer in, I think that probably means that I have earnt a tiltle or two !...
Thousands of Luton and Cardiff fans spend their money and time week in and week out watching their teams, if someone invested heavily in their club next season and they beat you in the F.A. Cup final would you cry and say that hadn't been earnt but bought.

Well, in the seasons before Abramovich took over they actually did rather well in the league. They finished 3rd (4 points behind the leaders) and reached the Champions League quarter and semi final. So they were very good then, and could have improved. But obviously the Abramovich effect gave them a quick leg up.

Before Abramovich, Chelsea are outside contenders. They could mount a real challenge in possibly 5 seasons, and maybe or not get it a couple of years after.
Abramovich's deep pockets defintely helped accelerate the process by ten years at least.

Maybe for a bit. the arrival of the ruble soaked russian shook things up, the old tried and trues wondering what hit them. But now it's tiring. The other teams that have been in the wings much longer than Chelsea are chomping at the bit and the heavies fight over who gets to be named "second best". If the russian left, the same thing that's happened to some of the recently heralded teams would happen to Chelsea; teams with cash will sweep in and lure away the top talent. Then the fans at Stamford Bridge will have another fifty years to say " We won it 2 years running when roman was here!" Here's hoping sooner rather than later.

they wouldnt, before Abramovich chelsea were an also ran they were never real contenders to the league they were more dangerous in the cup competitions, since Abramovich it seems that no club in Europe can make a move on a player as Mourinho always outbids because he has Abramovich's purse strings which means they always pay over the odds for players,it also seems to me that any other club has to wait to see if chelsea are intrested before they even get alook in.

It is easy to imagine a Chelsae fan saying that they could have won the league without Abramovich, me I do not think so.

how can you say they wouldn't ?.
first of all Chelsea were a good side before abromovich a very good side.
they have tradition in cups (look it up).
ranieri (sorry but i cant spell his name lol) built the side that Maureen and abromovich won the title with.
so who's to say that Chelsea couldn't of won the league without him?

GLORY MAN UNITED.

Clubs get lucky sometimes. Naples of Italy, well how luckier can they be? Maradona becomes part of their lineup and wins a title for a team that wasn't that great before.
