I've read a few Q&A's about the show that lead me to believe that many of the show's fans weren't even around when the group was. So I am curious.

Flava Flav is part of the pioneer hip hop group Public Enemy. They were formed in 1982 and preformed radical music of socially relevant controversial issues within the black community and beyond. Thing like police brutality, poverty, and the lack of an education system.
They have over 20 years in now and 11 albums released.

There was a show on about him on vh1 the other day. He started out taking requests at a radio station, everybody liked him so much he got a job being a dj. He later was in Public Enemy, where he always wore his signature clock around his neck.

Public Enemy, they did hip hop, they were famous for that song 911 is a joke, he even wore the big clocks back then.
