no way i think of wisdom as having book smarts and there are lots of people out there that are academically smart but have no common sense what so ever

Nope, not even close! Common sense is something we intrinsically know already like right and wrong. Wisdom is the life experience to which we learn from. One is already known and the other is acquired through experience. Common sense tells me not to steal from someone because society deems this as wrong behavior. Wisdom tell you from past experience that this person you want to steal from is having a hard time in life and it would hurt their life to do anything to make it worse for them. Wisdom also if knowing the innate difference between the two, it is feelings for others instead of yourself. Not all are blessed with wisdom I must say.

I think wisdom is the opposite of common sense, but the two things are related, like opposite ends of the same spectrum.

The people I have been around who I think are wise usually seem, at first glance, to have no common sense whatsoever. But then, as you're around them more, you realize that the things they say and do actually make sense, even though they seem asinine at first.

Wisdom always seems simple after the fact, and leaves me thinking, "Why didn't I think of that?"

No. Wisdom comes with age and experience. Common sense is something you either have or you don't. Many people are very smart and have attained great wisdom, but have no common sense.

Common sense is a part of wisdom. A small but necessary part, for survival reasons. But wisdom includes philosophy, science, and lost of other fields of knowledge.

not really wisdom is being very wise and having a lot of knowledge about many different things. Common sense is common knowledge about stuff u should already know and people don't have to tell u do it. like if u stank take a bath. lol

Wow, well there is a huge difference between them, let's see if I can explain this.

Wisdom is knowing things.

Common Sense is like not jumping off of a bridge just because all your friends just did it. Wisdom is when you never even thought about jumping off the bridge in the first place.

They might be mildly related but I think wisdom is on a deeper level than common sense.
