This might sound strange BUT one of the best places to buy fabric in Vancouver is Rokko Sarees & Fabrics (an East Indian establishment), which is located at 6201 and 6215 Fraser Street in Vancouver. The store has a huge selection of fabrics and reasonable prices.

Alternatively, Dressew Supply, at 337 West Hastings Street in Vancouver, is one of the best. Fabricana, at 4811 Hazelbridge Way in Richmond, would also have a fairly decent selection.

Read this quote from a review of Gastown:

"Gastown also has pretty much the best fabric store downtown, Dressew (337 W. Hastings). It's big and can be overwhelming at first, but there is good stuff at good prices to be found. Head downstairs for the reduced fabrics and all the trims and notions you could ever need. They only accept cash or cheques, and they are closed on Sundays. "

Good luck.
