Great ideas above if you want to make it yourself, I am not really creative so I won't be of any help ;-)

If you are interested at looking online, you can shop at online halloween costume stores like BuyCostumes.com, AnniesCostumes.com...also try Walmart.com or Target.com, they are usually cheap stores and with Halloween coming around the corner, they'll start getting a lot of Halloween inventory.

I hope this helps. ;-)

First of all, make a red cape, or get one from Good Will. Find a picnic basket, an old Ostara/Easter basket will do nicely. If you have a picnic blanket or piece or red/white fabric, put that in the basket for a nice touch. Get a red dress or red apron. You could easily make a dress out of fabric of your choosing by tracing an existing dress that your 13-year-old has onto newspaper, then use your "pattern" on fabric you'd rather have.

could you find any friends of yours who wanted to dress up too? If you had three or four of you dressing up, then you wouldn't have to worry. I would go sort of half way down the middle. If you could wear the red hood and cape, with a cute t and skirt (something you might wear anyway) then if you felt like you looked out of place with the cape you could always take it off and stash it.

Check the thift stores for a dress, but patterns for a hooded cape should be hitting the fabric stores right now. If they aren't there already.
