Including Little Miss Sunshine, Talladega Nights and The Devil Wears Prada. Since homosexuality from most reports occurs in about 1-2 % of the population, it would seems a funny coincidence that so many screenwriters are writing gay characters into their storylines. Do you feel that having a gay character in your screenplay is the new hurdle in order to get production companies to sign off on a film? Growing up I never remember seeing gay characters in films at anything like the rates now. It seems like the film industry now exists as a backdrop to carry the gay message in every potential form. Do you agree or not?

There is entirely too much gay stuff on TV and movies. So I quit going. I just ain't paying money to see banging brokebacks just to stroke some rich Hollywood queer's ego.
About Andrew's comment. There is not a wave of tolerance going on in this country. There is polarization. We were tolerant when we didn't have to hear about people's sexual orientation. But now we have the sexual orientation thing everywhere, and gay pride crap unmercifully.
Let's go back to "Don't ask, don't tell"

Actually, it's closer to 10% of the population. Films are representing the American demographic.

I think having gay characters in films are fine. They tend to be really funny.

Nope. Whether you think it is progress or not, the movie industry is now reflecting more of the reality that there are plenty of homosexuals in the world and they have stories to tell (or to be told about them). Hopefully, your question notwithstanding, it means we are collectively becoming more tolerant.

i have no clue what u are saying... but there are gay people in movies because gay people are funny as hell... havent u ever met a gay person? they are funny. people who make movies know this. so they put atleast 1 gay guy in every funny movie

Just don't watch them. Things have changed. I just avoid that scene. No offence, but if its not in my world, it doesn't bother me. Mind one's own business is my motto.
