I think you misheard and she said reflective essay. Just an essay reflecting about something. I recently wrote a reflective essay reflecting about my past english courses and teachers.
Hopefully that will make more sense.

it means to reflect on something. to look at something that is behind you and write about it. Reflexive-to look back on itself Example: Take something you learned in this class so far this year, or in a earlier English class and reflect on the things you learned from that particular lesson.
