I cant figure out how to get to ot be set up as WPA. It stays withe the default of WEP. Any suggestions would be helpful.

First, your router or access point has to be new enough to support WPA, the older ones might only support WEP. Do a web search on your make/model. Hit the vendor's web site and download and install the latest version of the firmware as well, which might help. Check their manual, which you'll likely also find online, and look up the wireless settings chapter, it usually just a drop-down box to select WPA instead of WEP. For home use, select WPA "personal" where you will use a password or passphrase much like you do with WEP, the longer the better, typically up to 63 characters max.

It is a setting in the router configuration. Not all the routers support it and not all wirless cards support it. You may not be able to.

Sometimes a firmware upgrade adds it to the router.
