To be sure, Windows REPAIR and Windows RESTORE are two entirely different things.

Windows Repair (when run from the XP Setup Disk) only replaces files which were copied to the hard drive during the original initial install. It does not do anything with downloaded files, music, letters or photos.

if you do a complete system restore that will delete everything file you have saved and it turns back to as if it where brand new

No, it only repairs the op sys files.

this is tricky. some programs can do that, but most won't. if you are using your back-up system restore it gives you a choice to replace windows and leave your stuff or get rid of everything. you need to talk to someone near you. each computer manufactuer has thier own way of doing things.

no, if you are worried go into the 'my documents' folder and copy the 'my music' directory to c:\
