howcome american teens cant work in arg. fields?

on the news they said that there was a drop in migrant workers bc of tighter border control which made some farmers lose alot of crops bc they couldnt find anyone to do the work.but they also said tht the migrant workers got paid 9.25/hr.im 15 yrs old and i work 13 hrs a week @ publix for 6.50/hr and i would b more than happy to work like 10 hrs/week in a field.so howcome teens cant/shouldnt work in these fields/groves?

It has to do with working with dangerous machinery. That is why they have child labor laws.

As long as you have a work permit and don't exceed the federal law on how many hours a minor can work, I don't see a problem. I don't know why you couldn't.

I thought the illegal people were used because they work cheap. They can't get work otherwise. It could be very harmful and costly to the employer if he/she gets caught hiring them.
I think if you as an American went to apply for the same job, the pay would be much less than what you were told.

Becuz most of them border jumpers get paid under the table, Farmers don't pay insurance, workmens comp, on the farm labors..most have green cards to work here... they get payed that much becuz of that fact of the farmer saving on all those costs.. If you were to have a job doing it ..you'd want workmens comp , and insurance vacation exc.... Thats why..... Here in cali alot of farmers and other businesses have violated federal & state laws about Mexican labor's.... Is our goverment doing anything about it "NO".
