Absolutly not. That is a very personal thing and she should be able to tell if she wants to..her choice. They are completly disrespecting her. Do they not know that this may be really hard for her and that their actions now she will remember forever?

It is absolutely not fair! Coming out is an extremely personal thing. So what if the rest of the team is comfortable with her existence? It's not their problem. It's not their lives that are going to become 500% more difficult with just two little words.

I agree with the above answerer who said that they wouldn't make one of the teammates who is dating a boy announce it to everyone. They have no right at all to force her to come out to the team.

no it is not fair.. that is completely prejudice against her.. sure, the school could kick her out.. but i don't think they should be able to give an ultimatum like that we'll let you stay only if you admit to being a lesbian to your teammates.. but a coach should not be focused in an area like that, it truly is none of his or her business at all, and why the coach was concerned is puzzling.. also, if you are on a team with them, it is could to trust/be honest with them.. but that is all choice, so.. yeah.. you really care for your friend, is she dating you by any chance, just seems that if you are aware of the situation, and talking in the third person.. that there wouldn't being many people at all she would share her opinion with if she was in a situation like that.. except a close partner like that probably.

No. I don't know who this coach is but he or she is going into territory where no coach or teacher of any kind should go: Someone's personal life, especially that of a young girl in middle school or high school. The coach should bud out. If the school administration has not brought any of this up, why should the coach? What kind of spineless character is he or she? No coach of any kind should stick his or her nose in the personal life of a player. He or she is NOT the player's parent. There's a definite line in the sand that a coach cannot cross.

Jesus Christ change schools quick, it sounds like the Russian KGB, What has the girls orientation got to do with the coach, how did the coach find out? what the girl does is none of the coach's business, she should sue him/her and the school for harassment. The coach is a predator and the girls should be warned. If you masturbate by yourself do you have to tell the coach? and even though it's a christian school they don't have the right to kick her out, that's discrimination and she can sue. you be very careful, ask your parents to change your school, you are in a dangerous situation.

Absolutely not. No. That's setting her up for persecution and torture. But unfortunately since it's a private Christian school, they go by their own rules. She can actually consider suing either the school or the coach for personal distress. If she's out to her family, I'm sure her parents would be enraged at this.

HELL NO !! that is not fair the coach is actually putting her n a spot she is more than likely she is uncomfortable in , omg its like putting the coach n the spot in front of everyone and tell eveyone wut he./she has done, that coach should not do that as a matter of face NO ONE SHOULD EVER PUT ANOTHER PERSON IN A SPOT THEY ARE EITHER NOT READY FOR OR ARE VERY UNCOMFORTABLE and especially sinces its a christian school and somthings like that wont be tolerated for some odd reason liek being gay is a "bad habit" in there eyes, so NO defintily no i dont agree with that coach

I think I would agree to coming out to the team if the coach is willing to come out as a hateful bigot and admit the only reason they are not kicking her out is that she is their best player... gee.. a gay better than all those straights.. go figure..

No it is none of anyone's business and I think to require it is a violation of her civil rights.

What an oxymoron philosophical that your school is taking. The only reason why they want to have this player outed is to bring shame and humiliation. They know that they can't kick her out without sacrifice their sports competition.

Hey what lesion are they sending out to the school and their student body. Why sellout your principals? Tell your friend not to come out. If ask; have her to ask the person to give her great details as to their sexual behavior. After all, in for a penny in for a pound.

If they found out she was dating a guy, would they make her reveal that too? I don't think anyone's out-of-school activities are anyone's business. Do they think making her "tell the team" is going to keep it a secret? That's probably the fastest way for everyone else to find out.

It's too bad the school and those who work for it aren't more concerned about a student's academic performance instead of how they're spending their private time.

My first impression when reading your question was that the coach may be hoping that she will quit, rather than face the humiliation. If she is out to her family, she may want to talk to her parents, let them know that she is being discriminated against. Her parents could then decide whether to pull her from this school, or perhaps even seek legal guidance.
