Overdressing your baby is thought to be a cause of SIDS. My rule of thumb with my kids was they wear what I am wearing. If we go outside and they are a baby they get one extra layer than I do. So if I am outside in t-shirt and jeans, they wore t-shirt, pants and a thin jacket. I always tossed a blanket in the diaper bag and if their torso felt cool, I put it on. Don't judge your baby's temp by his arms and legs. Baby's circulation isn't fully developed and their arms and legs always feel cool. Good luck with your new baby :) it's a scary to be a new mom, trust yourself, you will be just fine! Enjoy!

Congratulations first of if it is warm were you are at a nice onesi made 100% cotton would be fine but not thick they also can get hot but cotton is a very brethable cloth so that should keep your newborn fresh and cuddly at the same time Good luck hope this helps

You can bring them home in a sleeper. You will probably have the baby covered up with a blanket, so it's not like you have to over dress the baby. Some people insist on buying fancy outfits to take their babies home in, but I kind of think that's silly.

The hospital will give you a long-sleeved undershirt and diapers and a hat. They also provide flannel blankets that are the perfect size for swaddling and nubby enough so they stay tucked.

I live in Minnesota, but both of my girls were born in mid-summer, so I brought them home in those clothes.

Whatever you feel like. Of course take into consideration the temp and sun. My boys were born when it was cold so I took them home in sleepers. And I had them snuggled in a blanket. I'm pregnant again and I plan on buying a cute NASCAR or Dale Jr outfit to bring this one home in. :) Yay!

buy a newborn sleeper, real pretty, and a blanket. If it warm a receiving blanket will.
The reason I said real pretty, I bought a nice expensive sleeper from a store and all my children came home in that sleeper. and now its lying in Wait for the grandchildren.

some hospitals take the pictures right before release, if thats the case, just leave the baby in its picture clothes. if not, its up to you. whatever you want to put on your baby is your decision. it is YOUR baby! just be prepared, in case you have a big baby the clothes are usually loose.

First wash the cloths in draft (it's baby soap)... Then put him in something thin, but that will cover him, you will want to wrap him in a blanket anyways.

It's up to you what you want them to wear. For my 2 kids I brought them home in premie clothes since it fits perfectly when they are born but they only fit it for less than a week.
