Generally, the further north or south you go (away from the equator) the colder it gets. The lower latitudes or tropics (0 to 30 degrees N/S) have two seasons (wet and dry), the middle latitudes or temperate zone (30 to 60 degrees N/S) has four (summer, fall, winter, and spring), and the high latitudes or polar region (60 to 90 degrees N/S) has two seasons also (cold summer and extremely cold winter).

the closer you get to the equator or one of the tropic lines (like tropic of cancer), the hotter the climate.
