My birthday is September 11.
As I'm in Australia I watched the attacks live on the evening of my birthday. Truly horrible.
And I felt responsible.
My doctor told me that it's a totally normal thing for people whose birthdays coincide with tragic events to feel this way. It makes sense: there are only 2 things in the world that are precious to you as they are uniquely yours... your name and your birthday.
I got over it by realising that there are pyschos in this world (of all races, religions) and if I gave in to the depression and feelings of hatred and revenge then they would have won. I would become a monster just like them.
Since then I've flown a number of times, and while the first flight scared the pants off me, I came up with the idea to pretend I'm the pilot each time I get on the plane. They do this every day, so it's like going to the office. Now flying doesn't bother me.
I also don't feel guilty on my birthday. In fact, while it's a rainy day today, I feel great!
So recognise that September 11 is a special day for thousands of people who lost loved ones in this tragic event, but celebrate the fact that life goes on.
If you open your heart and share the love that's inside you, it will spread. You never know, one of these days our happiness and love of life may spread to the fanatics of the world and they may find happiness outside of the hatred and fear they've believe in.

Everyone is depressed except most liberals, who don't think it's that important, since they hate America, think we're evil and that we deserved it.
Many people are in denial and they don't care about the lives that were lost. The media has also worked overtime in dimininshing the horror of what happened, censoring the most terrible scenes since day 2 after the attack. For example, they have blacked out the people falling from the towers and bodies being removed from Ground Zero.
The main concern of liberals is that "alll Muslims don't get blamed," and that's what was on the airways after the attack.
There is been a death of outrage, for the most part. Just look at the answers above.

The depressing thought is that it was 5 years ago. Where did the time go? I remember it like it was last year. I know personal stories from that day. One story always gives me "goose bumps" and every time I tell it, the person I tell it to has the same response. I intend to retell it to others this Monday. It is an act that was not realized until a month after 9/11. It gave great comfort to many families and fellow workers.

I will not be depressed at all. One of these days I am going to get up early, drive about 8 miles to a neighboring town where I have been told illegal Mexicans gather early in the morning waiting for day jobs, and call the local police and demand to file a complaint. it is time for each and every one of us, instead of feeling depressed like some candy-assed wimp, to strike back and fight the invaders wherever we can find them. I am sick of this nonsense; it is getting totally out of hand and something needs to be done. If Congress won't it is up to us.
Do't get depressed, get MAD and fight back!

I'll be busy at work that day. When I get home, I don't plan to watch much about 9/11 on TV. Not because I don't care, but because it does depress me. I can't imagine how bad this date must be for the families of the victims.

Just as depressed as I am today. It makes no difference one day to the next.....unfortunately, but I won't be alone on that day. Thousands of others will be mourning the loss of their loved ones and I will pray for them and with them as I have lost a loved one too. Not there but just as loved as theirs. May GOD be with us, near us and comforting us in all of our losses every moment of our lives. Amen........
