Yes, often. In England, they play games with the squirrels whereby they create obstacles for getting to the food, such as a rope stretched between two poles with short lengths of plastic pipe along it, so if the squirrel tried to cross, they pipe would spin out from under them. Some of the mazes got pretty complicated. You might try doing it in your yard.

yeah, they are really clever. I once rigged up a squirrel gym of sorts that they had to climb over something, then jump something else, then shimmy down a rope. It only took them a couple of days to figure out the correct sequence.

I SURE DID AT MY PARENT HOUSE HE LOOKED SO CUTE. MY PARENTS USE TO LEAVE OUT CORNCOBS FOR HIM BUT HE LIKED TO GO TO THE BIRD FEEDER, I WAS WATCHING HIM ONE DAY WHILE HE WAS CLIMBING UP THE BIRD FEEDER THE HE HUNG UPSIDE DOWN TO GET THE FOOD.
