Actually there was no place on Earth where Superman learned about his Kryptonian past. In 1948 in "Superman #61" Superman finds a mysterious substance that can hurt him (later revealed as Kypronite). He used his powers to go back in time, tracing the subatance all the way to Krypton where he learned about his past.
