IN Ontario a babe boys penis was destroyed in a botched circumcism. The doctors and an eminent psychiatrist decide the best thing was to do surgery and raise him as a girl. No body was ever to inform him. He was never accepted in school because he only wanted to play with other boys. By the age of 7 the psychiatrist brought him his brother and a girl of 7 and had them strip naked to prove to him he was a boy. By the age of 12 he told his parents he would kill himself if he had to see the doctor again. Faced with the prospect of suicide the parents told him the truth and he began hormonal treatment to be the correct gender.
Canada has recently passed a law banning genital surgery until a child is old enough to decide of his or her self. The experiment was a total failure because the sex may show between the legs, but the brain decides the gender. He didn't decide to be a boy, he new he was a boy.
It has been proved though Autopsies that in transsexuals the brain do not match the sex.

Basically that's the simplest way for us transpeople to explain transsexuality without having to go into details.
During fetal development the mind and body develop. As this happens, sometimes the body may develop genitals of one sex while the brain goes the other way. When the child is born they have have a female mind and male body or a male mind and female body. That's why people say they were born in the wrong body.

Read up on embryo development. It's sooooo complex and intricate that it's amazing so many people turn out with relatively speaking, so little diversity. Also, think about intersex people born with both genitalia. It's not difficult to understand that the mind can develop differently than the body when put into perspective. Personally, I don't think sexuality variations would be nearly as controversial if people would get beyond their learned stereotypes about sex and simply think about human development in a broader context.

It's when the body is either male or female but you feel maculine or feminine. So.. a Male feeling Feminine and/or a Female feeling Maculine. That's why some Transgender people feel that they are trapped in the wrong body because they feel differently than there gender.
